How to participate?

To be able to compete in the European Championship each couple (rider/horse) must meet the qualifying criteria of the International Equestrian Federation. Then the ‘chefs’ d’équipes’ of each nation compose their delegations of 3 or 4 riders.

Those countries without enough riders for the team event can participate individually.

For the Young Riders and Juniors categories, the participants ride in three tests after which are awarded three titles:

  • The Team test will decide the team ranking
  • The Individual test will decide the individual ranking.
  • The Freestyle test which is the test ridden to music has its own specific ranking.

New in 2015

The Children category is new to the Championship. Because of the tender age of the competitors, there is no freestyle test. Two titles of European Champion are awarded:

  • Team
  • Individual
